Tiiu’s Take on the Caribbean
Day One: interpreters had barely watched briefings on the region for a few hours when they were challenged to a competition and asked to draft an ad to promote the Caribbean region. Some serious frowning ensued! Yet, when the time came to read their texts out loud, participants stunned us with their humour, seriousness or emotion, often mirroring their personalities, with Guillermo even shooting a video in 10 minutes flat. Travel magazine worthy, all of them. Sorting out the winners was no easy task, but Tiiu’s text was voted most poetic hands down. Her eyes shone as brightly as the light and sun she portrayed so eloquently: “There is so much sunlight that you can even afford to waste it!”
English in the Caribbean 2019 – The Movie
What an action-packed couple of weeks! 50 hours of classes covering about 30 topics, over 10 hours of on-line teaching, lively debates, exercises… and so much more: loads of fun discovering the island’s numerous attractions! Beaches galore, cliffs, open markets, cocktails, buses, and the island’s best-kept secret: its wonderfully friendly people, the Bajans! In other words, two solid weeks of joy and friendliness.
