A Feel- Good Newsletter: The End - September 2022

Sunset

So here we are. After two years, the storytelling comes to an end, but the sharing definitely goes on in various ways, including, perhaps, a published collection of my personal blog pieces about Barbados; above all, a new Caribbean English and culture course that will be held in Barbados, from January 9 to 20, 2023.

If you are an interpreter or translator, and if reading my Newsletter has made you eager to find out more about Barbados and its vibe, here is a chance to deepen your knowledge of the Caribbean region and hone your professional skills. Caribbean English and Culture in Barbados is a unique course set up by an outstanding team, the Center for English Language Learning (CELL) at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Barbados. While initially designed with interpreters and translators in mind, it is open to anyone with a passion for cultural journeys, language learning, and humanity at its best.

Visit my site and feel free to e-mail me for more details.

If you’re keen to keep that connection with Barbados, do watch out for occasional Newsletter issues about my ongoing activities. Otherwise, feel free to unsubscribe by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page. I sincerely hope my Newsletter has brought the occasional smile to your face and made you feel good; such was – and is -- its purpose.

Before signing off, I wish to thank some dear friends who have been willing to volunteer their time as a show of support for my Caribbean endeavour:
- Edna Setton, for her steadfast fidelity both as a friend and as a translator of my Newsletters into English. She still can’t believe people often ask me in which of the two languages the articles were originally written.
- Patrick Scheuerer, my friend and web designer, for creating my entire Internet site (soon to be updated) and all of my on-line publications, including this Newsletter. As one good turn deserves another, I have helped him cultivate his patience and benevolence – mandatory qualities when working with me !.
- Junior Clarke, my Bajan graphic designer friend, for unfailingly producing every new flyer or poster I needed, sometimes with only a few hours’ notice.
- Last but not least, my numerous friends for revising or proofreading my texts. You know who you are.

I would like to close by offering my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your continued support and encouragement. Writing about my thoughts and adventures in Barbados and embracing the differences of a new culture has also been a voyage of self-discovery.
