The University of the West Indies (UWI)
UWI, the oldest and largest English-speaking university in the Caribbean, was founded in 1948. Its alumni include a Literature Nobel laureate, Derek Walcott, as well as over a dozen former and current Caribbean Heads of State and Government. This high-ranked university boasts four campuses (Cave Hill, Barbados; Mona, Jamaica; St Augustine, Trinidad; Open Campus) and serves 17 Caribbean countries.
The Cave Hill Campus comprises five departments offering over 250 graduate and post-graduate programmes.
A very short distance from St. James — an upscale parish on the Platinum Coast (West Coast) of Barbados — Cave Hill Campus is just a 10-minute drive away from some of the island’s best beaches, and about 45 minutes away from various natural sites and sightseeing attractions.
