Island Routes - Videos

Prof. Yanique Hume teaching

With Yanique, every place, every moment is a chance for an enriching conversation. On the bus, by the beach, in the class room, with a meal, coffee or rum… Caribbean cultural identities, Enslavement, Reparations, Sugar and plantation economy, History, Sociology, Indigenous Spiritualities, cultural traditions…We learned so much!

Caribbean art, languages and cultural traditions

We danced with Professor John Hunt, played percussions with Professor Stefan Walcott, explored Caribbean languages with Professor Ronald Francis. We were also initiated to medicinal herbs at Mother Ireka Jelani’s farm and were introduced to Caribbean painting at Professor Therese Hadchity’s own beautiful house. Such brilliant yet humble and spontaneous lecturers!
